Dimensions
Use the size-specific shopping and cut lists below.

What you need
- 1 - 2x4 @ 12"
- wire or large paper clips
- wood stain
- Personalization lettering (Cricut or similar)
- 1 - 2x4 @ 12" long
- 3 large paper clips, straightened out or bendable wire
- personalized text 10" long x 2-1/2" tall
- circular saw
Step by step
Step 1
Cut the wood block. Stain as desired. Drill holes in the top that match the size of the wire or paper clip.

Step 2
The best way to do text is to use a Cricut or similar machine and have the letters cut out.

Finishing
Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
